Turn on OSC in VRChat

OSC lets Nexus send chatbox messages and other supported controls to VRChat. Enable it in VRChat before testing your Nexus connection.

1. Open the Action Menu​

On desktop, press R, move your mouse to a menu item, and click to select it.

With VR controllers, hold the button you normally use for the Quick Menu. Some controller bindings also open the Action Menu when you click the joystick. If your controls differ, check Bindings in VRChat Settings.

2. Enable OSC​

Find OSC in the Action Menu, then turn Enabled on. If the root menu shows Options, open that first to find OSC. Look for the enabled indicator before closing the menu.

3. Check the connection​

Open Nexus and send a short message from its chatbox. In VRChat’s OSC menu, select OSC Debug to inspect incoming messages. The debug display shows OSC addresses and values; opening it also enables OSC.

If nothing arrives​

  • Confirm OSC is enabled in VRChat and Nexus is connected to the device running VRChat.
  • For a local desktop connection, VRChat normally receives OSC on port 9000 and sends on 9001. If you changed the ports, match your app settings.
  • With Nexus and VRChat on separate devices, check that the destination address points to the VRChat device and the devices can communicate on your local network.
  • For Quest-specific connection help, ask in the Nexus Discord and include which device runs each app.
